GETTING EAR FIXED AT KLINIK VENKA
[Disclaimer: This post was written yesterday, on the occurring event]
Have you ever experienced loss of hearing? Probably not entirely but partially?

Well it is happening to me right now and as I am writing this, my left ear still hear less sound than the right one. Woke up this morning wondering "what he heck is wrong with my left ear?". I quickly took a shower and tried to get rid of any excess water in my left ear although I was 100% confident there was none in it. My head did not "buzz" when I hit it repeatedly.
"If water was not the problem, then could it be my earwax?" At this juncture I felt terribly regret for always cleaning my earwax using cotton buds. I have it clean EVERY after shower EVERY freaking day. One of my bad habits, I know..but I just don't like wet ears after shower!
I started thinking probably because of excessive cleaning the earwax could have pushed further inside and blocked the airway. Great! What should I do? Well 1st I told my wife. As expected, she immediately blamed my bad habit! I got lectured y'all! Then I asked her to look inside my ear if the airway was blocked by earwax. She couldn't see anything. She said my ear was clean. No earwax at all at the outer canal of the ear.
Having said that we both jump to a conclusion that the earwax may have been pushed further inside!
I said what do I do? She said go see a doctor-lah! Brilliant! Haha
So we went to Klinik Venka, Kuala Terengganu. The only ENT Specialist (I mean for a private small clinic) that has been here for 27years. I still remember coming here when I was a kid.
Dr. Venka saw me. He dig out my complaints and history. Then he checked my ear using a classic equipment. It looks old just like him. The 1st check up was to see if the airway was blocked. IT WASN'T. In fact my ear was very clean. Thanks to my excessive cleaning, I guess! The 2nd check up was to test my hearing. He used one stick that produces sound (high - very low volume) and check if both ears could hear similar volume of sounds. He placed the stick beside and behind my ear and lastly on my head. The result was I could hear both similarly.
I then told him that when I speak, I can only feel vibration on the right side of my face and my right ear catches the sound better than the left. He waited no more and asked his staff to get my hearing tested in a hearing aid test box where I had to hear sound through earplug, in a box! I was asked to press a button whenever I hear the sound. The sound was very slow and minimal. Sometimes I could barely recognized if there was any.
Hearing aid test box. Thanks Google and https://www.soundproof-booth.com/desone-products/audiometry-booths-a-box/
Once done I was given the result immediately and apparently my left ear hearing is reduced by 10% . He probably noticed my reaction so he quickly told me that it was nothing major. It was absolutely fine and normal. The less hearing was probably because of air pressure that could not get through to the inner canal. Plus he noticed that my inner nose passage was slightly swollen. My ear was completely fine. No nerves problem or anything like it.
He gave medications to treat my problem. One week is the longest for it to heal. It could probably healed earlier than that. Total bill was RM 120.00, parallel or maybe cheaper than the friendly and professional services provided by Dr. Venka.
Now let just pray my left ear is back to normal!
[UPDATED: My left ear healed back to normal yesterday's evening, even before I could take my medicine LOL!)
